IOT is especially interested in male and female actor/singers that can appear to be in their mid-teens to portray Romeo and Juliet in their upcoming world premiere of a new Italian operatic adaptation: Romeo e Giulietta (performances in Italy, 2008).

Auditions in Philadelphia: December 1st. New York: December 9th. Especially interested in singers of various nationalities. Roles are tailored to each singer's voice. Seeking singers w/deep interest in communicating in Italian, who are flexible and seeking to be spontaneous through exploration of new physical modalities that increases vocal expression.

Singers receive a stipend, plus housing. Singers are responsible for their own transportation to and from Italy.

Rehearsals begin July 24th in Italy (some flexibility with dates for singers who have other professional commitments). Performances in Teatro Avvaloranti, Citta della Pieve, Italy, Umbria August 26th, 27th, 28th, followed by a performance in Orvieto on August 30th.

Singers are asked to present two arias in Italian.

Roles: Romeo, tenor, very young. Giulietta, soprano, very young, Mercutio, young lyric baritone. Capulet, mature baritone. Montague, baritone. Prince, bass. Friar, bass-baritone. Nurse, mature mezzo.
