Andrea Cortesi studied at the Rome Conservaotry and The Conservatory of Perugia, receiving his diploma from The Conservatory of Campobasso under the guidance of Maestro Bela Csanvi.

In 1997, he was honored by selection for the course in Highest Formation of Symphonic Orchestra Playing (AFOS), given by The Toscanini Foundation of Parma. During this time he studied with Maestro Massimo Quarta while playing for the Ravenna Festival in the group know as l'Orchestra Sinfonica "A.Toscanini" (The Symphony Orchestra "Arturo Toscanini"), l'Accademia Bizantina (Byzantine Academy), with directors and soloists such as Riccardo Muti, Julian Rachlin, Sebastian Di Bin, Julian Kovatchev, Patrick Fournellier and Janos Furst in concerts in cartellone. His love of chamber music would ultimately bring him to perform in Il Quartetto Mosaico in trio and duo with pianoforte.

For many years interested in musical works and projects linked to the formation of archi, be they chamber or orchestral, he founded il Collegium Tiberinum (Tiber College), il Quartetto Mosaico (The Mosaic Quartet) e in 2001, l'Orchestra da Camera Millennium (OCM) (The Millennium Chamber Orchestra), a group with a deep passion for the many avenues of expression in today's music; rich with a repertoire in pieces of the twentieth century in their first Italian execution and of compositions of the last generation like Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, John Adams, Aaron Jay Kernis, Giovanni Sollima and many others. With l'Orchestra da Camera Millennium (Millennium Chamber Orchestra), Maestro Cortesi has played first violinist and violin soloist under the direction of the other firsts, Oscar Luis Bacalov and Andrea Morricone. Recognized as a brilliant new entity on the Italian musical scene, L'Orchestra da Camera Millennium has begun to drawn the attention of many well-known modern composers such as Graham Fitkin e Michael Nyman.

l'Orchestra della Sagra Musicale Umbra, I Solisti di Fiesole, l'Orchestra Sinfonica di Perugia e dell'Umbria, l'Orchestra dell'Accademia Musicale Umbra, Roma Sinfonietta.
